(More customer reviews)During the past several years, I have become increasingly disillusioned with a "Buy and Hold" investing strategy. In my search for an alternative strategy, I came across "Manage your Own Money" by Daniel J. Clemons and I'm glad I did.
Dan does not believe in market timing 100% of one's portfolio. However, he does believe in adjusting one's equity allocation based on market conditions and he explains his Position Trading methodology in the book. My favorite topics covered in the book include the following:
1.How to determine asset allocation based on risk tolerance.
2.How to utilize a Watch List to pick funds, ETFs, and/or stocks to be included in a portfolio.
3.How to adjust equity allocation and/or trade like a Pro through the use of several easy to understand technical indicators.(The Predictor
and Summation Index)
Other topics included in the book were bond portfolio construction, budgeting, insurance and retirement/estate planning.
I find it interesting that Dan does not believe in the use of sell stops in his trading strategy. To me, that signifies that Dan has a lot of confidence in his system.
A couple of pluses if you decide to implement Dan's investing ideas. He maintains a free blog about his strategy,updated each weekend. Dan will also enthusiastically address any questions you may have through e-mail.
In the past 30 years, I have probably read well over 100 books about investing. I can honestly say that "Manage your Own Money" is included with a mere handful that I have read, where I was able to actually take the information in the book and incorporate it into my own investing process.
